Technology
Some of the practical difficulties that winegrowers in particular have to solve:
-
The lack of precision in the accurate local forecast of weather conditions
-
Lack of availability of workers during unplanned frost protection operations
-
High material expenditure and costs of manually ignited antifreeze candles
-
Emission of smoke and soot from antifreeze candles or similar burners.
-
High required power and low energy yield of the installed heat sources
-
Lack of local infrastructure on the vineyard (electricity, water, gas)
-
High initial investment for wind turbines or IR heaters
Our solution: Frostshield
During the critical season, you distribute long-lasting temperature sensors throughout your vineyard. These sensors predict frost events precisely and at the right location and ignite heat sources automatically and at optimal times. The heat source consists of quick-igniting charcoal modules that burn smokelessly and leave only a minimal amount of ash. The modules can be deployed in any weather and at any time, making them ready for use. There's no need to collect any residual material after use. The environmental impact is minimal.
